Popular Post TechnoRobbo Posted October 16, 2014 Popular Post Posted October 16, 2014 TechnoRobbo's Third Dimension Turn 2D Images into 3D Images and Terrains (Brightness becomes the Third Dimension) from a suggestion by Pratyush Special Thanks to Red Ochre for his assistance in testing and his great suggestions V 1.7.13+ Fixes Render Queue Backlog V 1.7.12+ uploaded to trap a small height map bug. Version 1.7.11+ adjusted for 144 DPI [hide][/hide] Version v1.7.9.12090 Haze is now independent of Light and Shadow Version 1.7.9+ Token Fix Versio 1.7.8+ replaces Sliders with trackbars (sliders have inherent bug) Depth of field optimized Versio 1.7.5+ includes Ray Traced Shadow Casting, Fog/Haze and Depth of Field - smaller interface for netbooks. also includes repeating textures (tiling) and highlight control. Tiling is Red Ochre's idea and it looks really cool Ray Tracing is a slow process but yields very realistic results v1.6.0.+ New Controls . v1.5.5+ Enhanced setting (Squash/Stretch,How Far & Brigthness, Smoother shading) V1.5.0+ Very Realistic Shading Shading check box is removed (Red's suggestion) Hemisphere Sun control V1.4.6+ 1. Transparency of the texture now incorpotaed with the transparency of the Height Map 2.Lo-Rez Preview now scales with the size of the height map for even faster previews. (As I've stated before the best Height maps are 1600X1200 pixels or larger, if you have an 800X600 Height map resize it for smother images) 3. Sun position was not rendering when mouse was moved beyond border of the control -(fixed) 4. Solid Polygon Threshold increased (fixes potential of holes in image) v1.4.0.+ fixes rotation scale bug adds inverted heightmaps (thank you Pratyush) adds high-speed preview (thank you Red Ochre) v1.3.1+fixes reset default bug v 1.3.0+ Rotation!!!!!!!! v 1.2.0.8444 Minor fix to Light and Shadow slider v 1.2.0.+ Enhanced Light and Shadow Control v 1.1.0 adds particle render V 1.0.4+ Allows you to reset defaults and fixes the stop button v1.0.3+ fixed large maps issues v1.0.2+ 3D Render Engine has been accelerated One important issue that I need to bring up - 8 bit indexed images shouldn't be used as the Map file V1.01- Will check and warn you if the Image is indexed . Always save as 32 bit even if it's B&W. Pratyush Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 (edited) Thanks TR. Another awesome plugin by you ( after random shape filler). I hope this will be very useful, especially for those who use paint.net for make illustrations for games etc. @NN , @Seerose, @DD awesome illustrations @Red , Mind Blowing image!!! Can't imagine how did you made this. This plugin can make a lot of stuff. I will need some time to get used to this. Just a few tips I will like to give for using this plugin 1. This plugin can load textures and height map independent from each other but you can achieve special effects if you use same image as texture and its black & white version as height map. In other way, you can have textures dependent to the height map. It can help in having different type of texture and color for different height in 3D render. 2. The plugin has Tilting capability but it doesn't rotate render sideways. That's because gray-scale image (black n white height map) can be rotated itself by user. So, it is advisable to open height map in another PDN tab and manipulate it as needed. We can rotate height map, apply some adjustment to it and manipulate it. Save the height map in other tab and run the plugin again. 3. Texture isn't the only thing that you could use with height map. You can use it like Shape3D plugin, and 3D Object plugin from evan's pack. By this plugin, you can map(or wrap) an image in those complex patterns which are not possible in these plugins. For applying the effect for a layer use TR's export selection to save layer (or any way you think of saving a layer separately) and then use this saved layer as texture for height map while running plugin. 4. Well height map can be colorful also. You can also use colorful images in height map and render it with mesh selection. Have fun :D Edited October 17, 2014 by Pratyush Quote

Goonfella Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 (edited) I have a problem with the plugin. I downloaded and installed it but when I try to use it the UI appears as it should with my chosen image showing but none of the controls work. I can`t adjust anything or tick any boxes . The only things that do work are the OK , Cancel or the red `x' at the top right hand corner. Very strange. I have just had a thought. Does this plugin require a dedicated graphics chip to work? I only have integrated and I know how limiting that can be with 3D work. I had to give up on Blender, Sketchup and Terragen because of this crappy laptop.
