Thumbnail rendering does not finish sometimes

I got a new lenovo Yoga 2 pro (Win 8.1, Paint.NET 4.0.3, i5 8gb).

 

Sometimes the rendering of the image thumbnails does not finish.

If it is the case then the issue happens with the first image I'm opening.

Also the image dropdown just shows the names.

The thumbnails placed in 'Open recent' are fine.
