LonelyPixel
Hi, I ran into trouble with Paint .NET 2.72, but the problem is still present with 3.0: I have inserted an image from the clipboard into a new layer. The pasted image is smaller than the entire image so it is located in the upper left corner. But I want to move the new image in layer 2 in the lower right corner. According to the help system, I need to use the "Move pixels" tool, the one in the first row, second column. But I cannot move any pixels with it. Instead it just stretches and shrinks the selected image in an arbitrary direction as I move the mouse, holding the left mouse button down. I'm not clicking on the round makers along the rectangular selection border, I click in the middle of the selection. Anywhere. Exactly in the center, more to the left, more to the bottom, doesn't matter. The selection just cannot be moved as a whole and in the original size. The outer image has 16x16 pixels, the new selection is 12x12 pixels, zoom levels are higher than 500%. At 100% I cannot see any details but it seems to behave just the same. Is there a chance this behaviour will be fixed in a near release? Right now I can't use it and need to find some other image editor. Maybe MS Paint... don't know (it's my computer at work). Or I copy that stuff over to my private notebook and use PSP10 there.

LonelyPixel
Okay, thank you. The mouse cursor changed from a hand to another black arrow at the very right corner of the window, quite a bit distant from the actual image area, almost that it wouldn't fit on the screen anymore. Now this isn't really intuitive. Neither the cursors nor the locations.
LonelyPixel
This problem still exists with latest version 3.35. I had to put the mouse cursor far off the image area, near the edge of the window, to move the selected pixels without scaling something. Explain that to somebody who's not experienced with a mouse and shall now move an image area... "You need to drag it there where it's not..." :? david.atwell
IIRC, Rick is working on this problem, but I think it's something that can't be fixed without the 4.0 architecture. So, be patient. It's being worked on. :-) Also, this is a necropost. Please read the rules about this. I'm going to need to lock it, but if Rick or BoltBait wishes to re-reply, they do have the ability. Locked The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.Amy: But how did it end up in there? The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.
