How Do I Make Tapered Ends On Lines & Make Abstract Lines?

Hello!

I would like to know multiple techniques on how to make pointed/tapered ends on lines that have been made with the curve tool, and I would like to know how to make other forms of abstract lines. I realize paint.net is not a vector based software, but I think it has plenty of potential to still make great abstract line art.

 

Here are some random examples of abstract lines to help clarify what kind of art I'm talking about.....

 

     

 

So, if you could please share with me your ideas, techniques, others techniques, give me links, or point me to tutorials, it would be greatly appreciated.
