Rick Brewster Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 The primary goal of this update is preparing for the v4.0 release: v3.5.10 will not be able to offer the v4.0 update, but v3.5.11 will. I’m not a fan of putting out an update for purely infrastructure purposes so I’ve also reverse-ported a handful of low-risk improvements from the v4.0 code base. This way we all win. As usual, you can download it directly from the website or you can use the built-in updater via Utilities –> Check for Updates. Here are the changes for this release: Fixed: The Gaussian Blur effect was incorrectly calculating alpha values for non-opaque pixels. (http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/18483-gaussian-blur-mistreats-alpha/) Improved performance of the Sharpen effect by about 25% Improved performance of the Median effect by about 30% Improved performance of the Fragment effect by about 40% Improved performance of the Unfocus effect by about 100% Reduced memory usage when many selection manipulation operations are in the history/undo stack (the undo data is now saved to disk) The built-in updater now supports upgrading to paint.net 4.0 (once it’s available) Check out the blog post for more details, including stuff about 4.0! (Please note that the update manifests are still uploading. "Check for Updates" may not work for some folks until about 6pm PST.) 2 The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
ldlx Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 When you run /createMsi on 3.5.11's installer you will still need to re-specify all the customized MSI property values. It doesn't automatically pick them up. I experienced the previous issue of the 3.5.11 beta installer again. While 3.5.11 beta was installed on my computer I extracted the MSIs using the /createMSI parameter. The freshly extracted MSIs for 3.5.11 final contained the modifications I made for the currently installed 3.5.11 beta installer (using a tranform file during install of 3.5.11 beta), so the properties PROGRAMSGROUP and DESKTOPSHORTCUT were "customized" in the 3.5.11 final MSIs.

I tried these and they worked fine for me ... The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
yellowman Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 (edited) Reduced memory usage when many selection manipulation operations are in the history/undo stack (the undo data is now saved to disk) Does this mean less frequent crashes? david.atwell Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Saw this update when I opened PdN today, and was VERY excited! So excited I just had to log back in and see what was up. *looks around* Hey, maybe I'll come back. Very cool to see that 4.0 is ever closer on the horizon! This is an exciting time to be a part of this community! The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.Amy: But how did it end up in there? The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

okan1964 Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Hello rick; İ am using paint.net for inserting tex to the comic books .like zagor, tex, dylan dog, etc.. i generally use thin fonts and in tex area i couldnot make them like photoshop tex : sharp, crisp, storng, smooth options.. my font thickness is not enough to read this comic after finishing. BUT , if ee have on option strong, to amke the font more thick , than everything will be excellnt. can you add something like that.. like using arial font and program makes it with using arial block (not bold) semi bold , with using strong effect before starting to write text. i hope i can explain.. waiitng to your answer, regards,,

Jove Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Rick, I am looking at my A/R to delete files for an overloaded disc. and see that my version 3.5.11 is rarely used, I use Paint.Net all the time, . . so I am figuring that my updated version, (Paint.NET v3.5.11 (Final Release build 3.511.4977.23443)), does not appear in A/R, . . can I delete the 3.5.11 or is it part of the Final Release Build ?
