Thanks everyone, but are there more Star Wars fans? Anyway, Episode 7 will come out in 2015. The Sith in episode 1-6 are:

 

Episode 1: Darth Sidious and Darth Maul 

Episode 2: Darth Sidious and Darth Tyrannus (Count Dooku)

Episode 3: Darth Sidious, Darth Tyrannus (who gets killed) and Darth Vader

Episode 4-6: Darth sidious (emperor) and Darth Vader

 

There are many Jedi in episode 1-3, unlike those mean siths who come in pairs or sometimes take a thrid sith. However only a few Jedi remain after epidsode 3 is over.

 

Episode 4: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Master Yoda and Luke Skywalker 

Episode 5: Yoda and Luke

Episode 6: Yoda (who dies) and Luke

This scene from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation pretty much sums up my mental reaction to finding out that Disney wiped out Lucasarts (The gaming division of LucasFilms), therefore cancelling both Star Wars: First Assault and Star Wars 1313,

I will never bow down to Mickey. At least not when I'm holding my Xbox controller, I'm sure their new movie trilogy will be great.

Hopefully (I hope) Disney will not spoil the Star wars movies and the clone wars series and lets hope they come up with good ideas for both. Star wars is not something to be watered down, the fighting, the intense stories are all what makes Star Wars more exciting than watching most other superheros etc. It provides enjoyment for both teenagers and adults (as well as children under parental guidance). A negative influence will be problematic to star wars fans and some of others who enjoyed star wars.

 

I do remember I was super-excited when I watched those Star Wars movies. However watching star wars all the time will be boring so switch to watching other things such as the movie ET.

 

@teh501stSnoipeh. Watch an episode of Star Wars again or maybe watch ET. ET is not a combat/war movie. Its intense story and emotional nature plus adventure is another masterpiece. Or maybe watch Star Trek (I haven't watched it yet, but it is said to be a great science fictional movie). And really, chasing cars with your saber?

Im watching episode 2 right now whilst trying to think of a cool sci fi image to make with paint.net.EPISODEIII is so underrated that its a  crime.Enders Game,Prometheus,nothing can rival the graphics.The cities!!ILM(industrial light and magic)must have used all the computing power on the planet to pull off those cities.The 5th Element did a great job but man episode 3 did not skimp at all on the towers and flying cars.Great stuff!

I'm a big fan. While not so deep into the lore of it all, I just simply love it. So much so, I'm doing 2 role plays for it, one on my own forum and another on SWRP both with the same character

I was brought up on Star Wars.

 

Jedi Knight, Battlefront, KOTOR. Read "The Dark Nest" and "Legacy of the Force" (10 books in total). Assembled a miniature metal model of the Millennium Falcon, have the retro merch, a poster. Played the Star Wars Tabletop RPG.

 

Etcetera etcetera.

 

Star Wars is great. Especially the original trilogy, I II and III were not as good.

After they nuked the Extended Universe, gave the game IP to EA, and having seen what Jar Jar Abrams did to Star Trek, I hold no hope.

Oh, come on. The EU isn't nuked. Abrams' Trek is excellent. Don't be a stereotypical angry nerd here. I tried it once. It wasn't fun. Being optimistic is way better.

Besides...well, think about every Marvel film (produced by Marvel) since Disney bought them:

• Iron Man 2 (not amazing, but not horrible; also, in production before the purchase)
• Thor (excellent)
• Captain America: The First Avenger
• The Avengers (amazing)
• Iron Man 3 (excellent)
• Thor: The Dark World (brilliant)
• Captain America: The Winter Soldier (I haven't seen it, but it's got an 89% on RT and has great reviews)

Now, think about some of the ones that were made with heavy Marvel involvement before the Mouse:

• Daredevil (Ugh)
• Hulk (2003) (Yecch)
• Elektra (Unwatchable)
• Fantastic Four (Yikes)
• Spider-Man 3 (Emo City)
• X-Men Origins: Wolverine (I'm gonna hurl)

Okay, but that's Marvel.  Maybe it's a fluke?  Okay, fine.  How about the Muppets?

• 1979 - The Muppet Movie - Amazing.
• 1981 - The Great Muppet Caper - Excellent.
• 1984 - The Muppets Take Manhattan - Awesome.
•     1990 - Jim Henson dies.
• 1992 - The Muppet Christmas Carol - Brilliant.
• 1996 - Muppet Treasure Island - Wonderful.
•     1996 - Jim Henson's son, Brian, stops being involved with the Muppet movies.
• 1999 - Muppets from Space - Ehhh....
• 2005 (but in production beforehand) - The Muppets' Wizard of Oz - Yecch.
•     2004 - Disney buys the Muppets.
• 2011 - The Muppets - Beautiful.
• 2014 - Muppets Most Wanted - Not as good as the 2011 film, but just as much heart.

All right, so Muppets and Marvel.  What else you got?  Well, have you heard of a little company called Pixar?  They've only ever worked with Disney, and 12/14 of their films are considered smash hits.  That's a way better record than Dreamworks.

 

What about Disney's own animation studio?  John Lasseter takes over in 2007 and starts making everything Disney Animation produces brilliant:

• Bolt
• The Princess and the Frog
• Tangled (YES, I liked Tangled, get off my case)
• Wreck-It Ralph
• Frozen (YES, FINE, I liked Frozen, let it go)

All right, all right!  So Disney can make a good film.  Much of their best work has been done in the last ten years.  How do you know they're going to make good Star Wars films?

 

Well, George Lucas gave us this thrilling scene (which wouldn't be too bad, except he also gave us the gripping bogged-down senate Sidious is referring to):

And...this...abomination:

 

So it can't get any worse.

EDIT: And about EA - you're not thinking here, man.  EA owns Bioware, who made KotOR and DICE, who make Battlefield; they also make Burnout, Crysis, Rock Band, Spore, Army of Two, Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, Mass Effect -- yeah, they're not angels, but who is?  You think Disney's going to sell the game rights to Valve?

He he, I can't help being an angry nerd. But honestly, I didn't even enjoy Into Darkness, and the first was only ok. It wasn't Star Trek, or rather: it was Trek with all the Trekky parts taken out.

 

Lucas' prequel trilogy was a mixed bag, but mostly junk. I still like it, but that doesn't make me blind to the fact that Lucas was a bad filmmaker (for the originals, Lucas had experienced producers and lots of critical input). Frankly, many of the books (Zahn especially) were closer to that original trilogy feel of the prequels, thus it irritates me that one of the first things Disney does is nuke all the post-RotJ books. Sure, Disney has cranked out some good movies, and Pixar is almost always stellar. But they've taken all the wrong moves in my mind.

 

And I boycott any video game devs that value their bottom line more than quality content. EA and Activision especially.

I was stoked when they announced they were making the sequel to Star Wars, but right now, I'm kind of pissed off they did not turn to Timothy Zahn's triology because that's what jump-started a new generation of Star Wars books.  His writing is brilliant and has a way of building a long story arc that keeps going until The Last Command.  I was hoping that they would use Zahn's materials to shoot the new movies, but apparently, they are going much, much later.  I believe it includes the killing of Luke Skywalker's wife, Myra, which pissed off a lot of authors, including Zahn because it was never his intention to have Myra killed.  So, I'm holding off on judging a movie until it's actually released.

 

One of the major flops, I can think of, would be The Last Airbender.  I was a fan of the cartoon series and was horribly disappointed that M. Nightshamwow killed it.  No, he didn't kill it.  He butchered, murdered, pillaged the good spirit of the cartoon series.  He should never be allowed to direct another movie ever again.  I am hoping the next movie that explores Aang and his friends in their struggle against the Fire Nation would be a major, major reboot.  I  have already been writing a script in my head if I was going to make one, but doubt Hollywood would give it a passing glance.

 

@ David Atwell, I was reading your review of Marvel's movies, and I agree with you.  But man, they are over saturating me with The Amazing Spider Man movies.  I did not even bother watch the second movie.  I am so done with Spider Man.  I think they have beat that stories to death.  I can think of 5 Spider Man movies within the last 15 years and I'm bloody sick of it.  When Captain America came out, I was positively stoked about it.  Captain America has always been my favorite and I was thrilled with it.

 

One of my major annoyances with those action movies, whether it is Superman or Batman, or even Pacific Rim is they insist on going 10 to 20 minutes of city destroying fighting that have me wanting to scream at the movie, "Hurry up and finish the fight so I can pee" Seriously.  It's totally unnecessary, IMO, for them to drag out a fight near the end of the movie.  It just gets boring fast.

 

As for other sci-fi series I love watching, I have to give a shout out to Babylon 5, one of the best television series to air, next to Star Trek: The Next Generation.  I was also a huge fan of Star Trek: Voyager, and had the chance to make up lost time through  Netflix and was annoyed to no end they kept throwing the crew of the Voyager to the Borg repeatedly.  It's like the writers finally ran out of ideas of challenge to throw at Kathryn and her crew.  One story arc that was really disappointing was how Seven of Nine and Chakotay had a love interest.  I mean, the chemistry wasn't really there as it was between him and Kathryn.  I was also really puzzled at the brief return of Kes in the later season.  I thought she had turned into some kind of powerful being, and instead came back as an angry old lady hell bent on destroying Voyager for some reason that wasn't really made clear.

 

Doctor Who is one of those television series that is strange.  I mean, Alfred Hitchcock strange. I could never really get into it.

 

I know it's not really a sci-fi series, but the modern adaption of Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch (who is rumored to be part of the new Star Wars series, hopefully as Grand Admiral Thrawn.  His role in Into Darkness was absolutely brilliant) is awesome.  I hope to catch season 3 soon.

 

@Sozo, your comments on the new Star Trek movies I have to disagree with.  They were intended to be a reboot of the original, and gives us a glimpse into the egomaniac Kirk, the stoic Spock with wisecracking Bones before they became old, grumpy men whose blood pressure shoots through the roof every time Kirk decides to play hooky with Starfleet's Regulations.  I personally enjoyed Into Darkness mainly because it was a role reversal.  In the old movie, Spock gave his life to save the ship, but it was Kirk who saved the ship because he finally "got the light."  Cumberbatch played the role of the villain perfectly and I think he rose the bar on how to be the perfect villain.  I cannot ever recall a love interest between Spock and Uhura.  Ever.  The new movies actually brought that to the surface and rose my eyebrows several times.  My wife who grew up with the original Star Trek crew said there were always "something" between Spock and Uhura, but never explored.  Well, Abrams decided to screw conventional wisdom, and make it a central part of the story.

Disney actually doesn't have any control over the Spider-Man films.  Sony bought the film rights to Peter Parker et.al. in the early 2000s, with the stipulation that they had to make a movie every 5 years or the rights would revert to Marvel.  I personally think that Disney needs to back a money truck up and buy the rights back from Sony before they're worthless.
