xod Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 (edited) I want to thank all those who have worked on creating this wonderful program and everyone who contributed! To make a 3D cover works very difficult in the absence of Deform Selection tool type. Is it possible to have such a tool in the future? I made that using Oblique plugin, but as I said very hard: Edited June 25, 2019 by xod Quote
xod Posted May 18, 2013 Author Posted May 18, 2013 (edited) Thanks welshblue, I have these plugins, I tested it but is not just what I wanted. I use 2 pictures in 2 layers: one is front cover and one is spine of book I need to deform its how I want and link it to look like in first image. Thanks anyway for your answer. Great program, GUI is very intuitive, I like much more then GIMP. Edited June 25, 2019 by xod Quote
pdnnoob Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 I use 2 pictures in 2 layers: one is front cover and one is spine of bookUse the oblique plugin with Y offset at 50 and -50 for the spine and cover (respectively). Use the move tool to put them in their proper positions. Duplicate the cover layer and move it to where the back cover would be (make sure it's the bottom layer). On a layer above the back cover, connect the corners of the book using the line too. Pull out your paint bucket and set the tolerance to 69% and fill the parallelogram. Done. That wasn't so bad, was it? Quote No, Paint.NET is not spyware...but, installing it is an IQ test. ~BoltBait Blend modes are like the filling in your sandwich. xod Posted May 18, 2013 Author Posted May 18, 2013 (edited) 1. Load first image 2. Load second image 3. Go to first image 4. Select All 5. Copy 6. Canvas Size 7. Image > Canvas Size = 200% 8. Add New Layer 9. Paste 10. Move, centrate image and deselect 11. Delete Background 12. Effect > Distort > Oblique and parameters is: x = 0.00 and y = – 0.35 13. Go to second image 14. Select All 15. Copy 16. Go to first image 17. Paste in to New Layer 18. Move, centrate image and deselect 19. Effect > Distort > Oblique and parameters is: x = 0.00 and y = 0.35 20. Move and put to proper position Sometimes is need to contract/expand image to make the book more slim/thick and then is need to move again in proper position. etc. etc. So, is not so easy how you told us. There are more than 20 steps. And is not posible to record this for later use to another cover. Or is it? With Deform Selection tool would be easier. Anyway, I falling in love for this program and this forum. Amazing plugins, amazing peoples! Thanks all! Edited May 18, 2013 by xod Quote
pdnnoob Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Oh. You're counting mouse clicks. That explains a lot. Seriously, though. It took me just under a minute to do it. It can't be all that bad.
