How do I re-size something?

I don't want to re-size the image or something like that. I'm doing a comic strip and need more room to make more of it. Is there a way I can do that? If so how?

The trick here is to resize the canvas.  Think of the canvas as the surface you're image is drawn on, like a painting on a canvas.

 

You'll find an option to do just this in the Image menu.  For more information, hit F1 in Paint.NET to be taken to the online documentation.
