Rohn Starr
I'm wondering if someone has done a tutorial on creating a palette based on an image. I've done a search and haven't been able to find what I'm looking for, so any help would be appreciated. What I'm trying to do is create a color palette based on the screenshot from a PC game. The game uses a 256 color palette which isn't the default 256 color palette. Since I create additions to the game, it would be nice to use its color palette rather than trying to match the colors by hand. Rohn Starr
I guess no one has any hints? Or is there a tutorial somewhere that I missed? Quote Creator of scenery objects for Roller Coaster Tycoon
BuzzKill
Currently, nobody has made a tutorial explaining how to create a palette based on the colors in an image. usedHONDA
I'm going to be making one soon. It will be a 3-in-1 tut, and cool color pallets is part of it. I guess I'll start on it now. BTW, I play RCT2. My best roller coasters: Dueling Dragons I forgot the name, but It had an excitement rating of 13.6 Quote "The greatest thing about the Internet is that you can write anything you want and give it a false source." ~Ezra Pound twtr | dA | tmblr | yt | fb
barkbark00
Palettes can only consist of 96 colors. Quote Take responsibility for your own intelligence. -Rick Brewster

usedHONDA
***Oops.*** I was making a tut on how to make a cool array of colors. Not making a custom pallet to work with. Oops. To help you to do what you really want, use the color picker to select the color you want. In the "Colors" window, there is a small button on the left, above the predefined color pallet. If you leave the cursor on it for a second, it will say "Add to color pallet". When you click on it, select the space you want to add the color to. Like barkbark00 said, you can't add all of the 256 colors you want, but you can add the 96 best. Another idea is to save an image with all of the colors in the game (e.g. make several roller coasters parallel to each other with different colors for each piece of track). BTW, are you the moderator of one of the RCT sites? barkbark00
Using Paint.NET's MDI interface you should be able to create an image that has all your colors in and just open that as a separate image when using PDN. Rohn Starr
Yep, I'm staff at two sites, RCT Space and RCT Mart. I've actually got a palette that I can use, somewhat. Doctor J created an object editor/creator that contains a palette with the colors that he's pulled from the game. But there are a couple of other colors that create the 'sparkle' in the water that I'd like to see if I could add those to see if I can get the same effect in some of the objects I'm currently trying to create. Another, much better, creator has used those particular colors with the intended effect, but it was in the object's preview screen, not in the object itself.
