Ego Eram Reputo
Cats are Evil! More Evil than socks. BTW I split this topic off from the Win8 thread to keep our hatred of the alien feline life form pure I'm joking. I don't hate cats, even though the title is mine, and Skullbonz didn't start this thread! HELEN
Ego, I don't hate cats, I love my Teep-Teep (my black, medium-haired cat) and he's really intelligent. My girl cat is a complete imp, but even she can be cute at times. However, the fact that cats have so much pride and don't show as much love as dogs do (in my humble opinion, of course), makes me like them less. barbieq25
I used to love cats & probably still do for their self-sufficiency & aloofness. The last cat I had was the most affectionate & selfless animal ever. Dogs are great too & we have 2 of them. However, I will never own another as I have found the perfect pet. They don't live long but they steal your heart. Like puppies, they chew things, like dogs, they are always happy to see you, like cats, they love to chase things, like dogs, they love to chase you, play ball & hide & seek, share your food, love being brushed, like cats, hate a bath. They never meow or bark their heads off, don't get fleas, cheap to feed & house, don't need microchipping or registration. They are awake early in the morning & again when you come home from work. The rest of the time they usually sleep. NZ seems to have the right idea. While I feel very sad that animals need to be put down, I am also angry at irresponsible people breeding animals for poor reasons such as so the kids can experience babies being born. Australia could take a leaf out of NZ's book. Cane toad bounty! Quote Knowledge is no burden to carry. pyrochild
I had rats once. They are very smart and cute and make really great pets. But I'm quite allergic to them. Still not as bad as my allergy to guinea pigs. I can't enter a house with guinea pigs. Quote ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it! barbieq25
Pyro, my husband is allergic too but he just loves our little one. He just has to be very careful. I had guinea pigs. Found them to be more stand-offish than cats. They are far cleverer than any other pet. It's so sad that you are allergic. The males are so laid back but I have an issue with their scent. They like to just snuggle & loll about. Girls, like mine, are quite active. I've never managed to get her to sleep on my belly like the boy, while I read. We have native ones here too. Geez, they make a mess & we XXX them too. Trapped a few & released into bushland the marsupial ones. Welshy, cats have the most terrifying weaponry - furry little killers most of them. If kittens are not handled by humans from birth, they go feral. Now that is really scary. In Australia 14 million small mammals are killed each night according one study that I saw on TV. They are as much as I do like cats - natural born killers, with some exceptions. Quote Knowledge is no burden to carry. blackpenny
We have to license cats here, and keep them inside. Well, we're supposed to anyway. It works pretty well. More lost cats are returned to their owners and not so many have to be euthanized.

barbieq25
EER, I was going to say cats are the sharks of terra firma. We had a cat come live with us. He belonged a few door up at the hairdressers. He as white with purple, green, red, black, brown spots (kinda gave away where he lives). One Sunday morning, the dog barked insistently, so I went to check out what was happening. The cat had swum out into dam & caught a full grown wild duck. Duck was handed to wildlife carers, & eventually made a full recovery. A few weeks later, dog alerted us to the cat's adventures again. It had a duckling this time. Attached to the duckling was a freshwater mussel that was nearly as big as the duckling. Hubby & I released the mussel & put duckling back. Dog suitably rewarded on both occasions. We had a friend that used to visit with his bull terrier something cross, an ugly dog that lacked all manners. My dog, Sunni (Sunshine) was eating her bone. Friend was told to hold his dog back & I would give him one too. Of course, he knew better...Horrible dog attacked my sweet girl. Cat was sitting on the porch rail, just keeping guard as the dog often tried to have a go at him. Cat launched at horrible dog, was horizontal by the time he got to dog, (Matrix copied this style!) then with his very best Wolverine style, raked the horrible dog along the entire length of his ugly body, flicked around to give him a few more on the backside as the dog ran squealing like a pig. Cat then rubbed the top of his head under Sunni's chin. When I was young, I had a Siamese. I lived in a caravan (trailer) park. The cat used to take himself to people's vans & they would entertain him. I found him one Sunday morning in a caravan with some older folk who were having breakfast with him. He sat there (the cat) at their table where they were having bacon & eggs & there was a plate for him with all of it cut up! I could not leave him home alone or he would trash the van. A lady who was from the west side of Oz (her hubby got a contract over east) looked after him during the day. Her kids were getting bullied by some of the other park kids. One day the cat took to one of the bullies. He was left crying & bleeding. His mother thought he had got the scratches from hurting the cat & gave him a belting. I bet he hates cats now. The kids were no bullied after this. The cat was a hero. He loved going for drives, would walk on a leash like he was royalty & eventually he went to live with the mailman who used to take a week to deliver mail in the far flung regions of Queensland's Outback. He was great company for him. When the cat was home he loved to sleep on the switchboard for the telephones which caused lost connections but the townsfolk loved him & forgave him. Red ochre - I like your joke too. Not all cats are bad or bad all the time EDIT: Pdnnoob! Love it!! Edited January 31, 2013 by barbieq25 Quote Knowledge is no burden to carry.
