Hi all this is my first post and I am new to Paint.net

I am trying to get some text with a transparent background to put on glass as an image in sketchup but am having problems.

I have attached an image showing what I ended up with when I made a transparent background

However when I export it (as a PNG or Jpeg) it has a white background.

Any ideas!

Thanks

Hi and Welcome to Paint.NET.  From viewing your thumb I can see that you do have a transparent background with your black text, because your background shows checkering.  It will look like you have a white background, if you are viewing it on a page that is white.  If you view it on a background that is say, red, then you will see that the text will be on a red background.  I hope that makes sense? But - this only applies in Paint.NET and if you are transferring the image to another programme you may have encountered compatibility problems.

as a .jpeg image, it will have a white background because .jpeg doesn't support transparency. As a .png image, it will look like it has a white background in the preview, but it's lying to you. It's really transparent.

Make sure you save as a .png or another filetype that supports transparency.
