mrgillus
I have some really large blueprints (black and white). Some of them exceed 30000 x 8000 in size. I want to reduce the overall size of these but when I try this my image gets really fuzzy. Is there a way to make these images smaller without messing up the clarity? Thanks a million! pdnnoob
resize the image in factors of 1/2 (ex: 50%, 25%, etc). If the size you want isn't exactly 1/2 of the size of the full sized image, first resize to twice the size you need, then resize again to 50% Quote No, Paint.NET is not spyware...but, installing it is an IQ test. ~BoltBait Blend modes are like the filling in your sandwich. mrgillus
Hey thanks for the info pdnnoob.. I tried what you recommended but still my image became fuzzy even at 50%.
kreemoweet
Keep in mind that if you have an X by Y sized image, and reduce it to an X/2 by Y/2 image, you are discarding 75% of the image information. One would expect a little fuzziness to be the result. Don't you have these drawings available in some CAD drawing format? I think the associated CAD software scales them down using completely different methods.
BoltBait
When you resize the image, be sure to change the resampling method to "nearest neighbor" and see if that helps. pdnnoob
Technically speaking (and as kreemoweet said), resizing the image will always cause you to lose image data because you have fewer pixels to display it on. Rick Brewster
You could always try sharpening after shrinking (Effects -> Photo -> Sharpen). I find that sometimes works really well with screenshots that I'm reducing the size of, for instance. Be sure to set the "Amount" to 1 (the default is 2). mrgillus
Thanks all for your information! We don't have the cad versions as they are just sent to us as TIF or pdf documents.. Some of these are so old the original files probably don't even exist anymore
