stranded
Is it possible to do that in paint.NET? It's the only thing I'm missing from Photoshop. Thanks for creating great alternative to Photoshop or GIMP. I love paint.NET! And yes I'm new here.
aatwo
Hi. A quick way to give text an outline is to write the text onto a transparent layer then duplicate the text layer. Then use either the hue/saturation or the brightness/contrast "Adjustments" to turn the bottom text layer the colour that you want the outline to be. Then gaussian blur the bottom text layer by the number of pixels that you want the text outline to be wide and then duplicate the bottom text layer about 20 times. Then flatten the image. stranded
Yes! I figured how to do this on my own actually (playing with layers etc.), but I thought that there is some kind of magic button which can do it for me
barkbark00
This is the easiest way I've found to do a text outline. 1. Write text on a transparent layer 2. Then duplicate the layer. Make sure that the top layer of text is the color you want the body of the text and the bottom layer is the color you want the outline. 3. Now, run the Median blur effect on the top layer with the following settings Radius: 1-5 (depending on text size) Percentile: 0 NOTE: method used for outline on right edge of my sig ↓↓↓↓ Quote  Take responsibility for your own intelligence. 😉 -Rick Brewster

mastermind7373
The outline tool wrks somewhat for larger text and the drapshadow does shadow, but they're not perfect... You probably get better results doing it yourself.
BoltBait
Here is one way to add a halo to text: http://boltbait.googlepages.com/halo It works best if you don't anti-alias your text.
