Outlines or shadows on text?

Recommended Posts

Hi. A quick way to give text an outline is to write the text onto a transparent layer then duplicate the text layer.

Then use either the hue/saturation or the brightness/contrast "Adjustments" to turn the bottom text layer the colour that you want the outline to be.

Then gaussian blur the bottom text layer by the number of pixels that you want the text outline to be wide and then duplicate the bottom text layer about 20 times.

Then flatten the image.

This is the easiest way I've found to do a text outline.

1. Write text on a transparent layer

2. Then duplicate the layer. Make sure that the top layer of text is the color you want the body of the text and the bottom layer is the color you want the outline.

3. Now, run the Median blur effect on the top layer with the following settings

Radius: 1-5 (depending on text size)

Percentile: 0
