Noticed today that I couldn't start Paint.Net Soon after I learned I couldn't uninstall it, run the repair exe, or do another install. I have the latest installed.

This is all the info it is currently giving me:

Description:

Stopped working

Problem signature:

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

Application Version: 3.510.4297.28970

Application Timestamp: 4e8f93d5

Fault Module Name: mscorwks.dll

Fault Module Version: 2.0.50727.5456

In trying to fix the problem,

I've run sfc /SCANNOW

I've done a repair on .Net 4 extended and client, and have run the verify tool on .Net 3.5

And I haven't gotten very far.

From the link below...

http://www.ehow.com/how_6899050_fix-mscorwks_dll.html

"Mscorwks.dll is a DLL file used by the Microsoft .NET Framework. It controls the execution of Common Language Runtime in your system. If the DLL is missing or corrupt, you get an error message and the application that needs it does not run."

Visit the page. There are instructions there for downloading and replacing the file to fix errors from a corrupted version of this file.

Thanks, I will try that tonight, and will try to see if I can grab the dll from a cloned drive that is a couple months old. Also noticed this morning that I also get the error when opening the management console, so, not paint.NET specific. Thanks for the help. I will let you know how it goes.
