HELEN
Most of you have probably seen this message, "Windows can't stop your 'Generic volume' device because a program is still using it. Close any programs that might be using the device, and then try again later." I searched online for solutions, but I didn't find one that works. I don't think that restarting the computer is such a good idea with the device still plugged in. I did that with my WD Passport and it's why it doesn't recognize it any more. Now, I'm having problems with the iOmega external device that I'm using to back up my books that I illustrated and other important files. Is there a simpler solution or steps I should take to avoid this message in the near future? Also, is there a better way to back up my files? I use flash drives--are they a good substitute for the external hard drive? AhmedElyamani
as much as i understood , there must be something that is using your external hard drive , maybe copying and pasting or something else . also , no ,restarting your computer while it is still pluged in isn't bad, but save yourr job first .. also : http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/2278-this-is-not-a-tech-support-forum/ cheers , Ahmed.
