Goonfella
I just logged in today and was totally surprised at what faced me. A much fresher, better looking , more interactive forum. I think it`s great. I like how you can see each members details by hovering over their name. My only disappointment is that we still have the same smileys. I have never been a big fan and it would have been nice if they were upgraded along with the rest of the forum. Can`t have everything I suppose. What do you think of it? nitenurse79
I like the new layout, very clean and easy on the eye, I was hoping when I saw this new layout that Pdn 4 was upon us too
HELEN
I really liked it. I'm not so much into "change," but this one took me by pleasant surprise. It's gorgeous. Mike Ryan
I am a little disappointed. The other themes (Cethin in particular) are now completely broken and the heavy amount of AJAX makes the forums a bit less mobile device friendly.
Rick Brewster
It's not so much a theme upgrade as an upgrade to the whole forum software. We were on IP.Board v3.0.5 and apparently it doesn't auto-upgrade (I had assumed the IPB staff was taking care of that?). As it turns out, v3.0.5 is "very old and no longer supported", so we got an upgrade. This only got noticed in the first place when the forum got temporarily disabled because it was using up too much CPU time Now we are on IP.Board v3.3.0. AGJM
OH MY GOSH EVERYTHING IS BROKEN D: It looks meh. Like it is trying to hard to be fancy fancy. Everything, excluding inside threads, detracts attention from the text. I don't like it very much. Also, it is too bright. Otherwise, it just feels too out-of place. Maybe if it was darker... AGJM
I just noticed that it removed the old font I had on my gallery. The forum should put on Segoe UI Light. I think that is what I had, but I don't actually remember. I changed to Verdana, but I don't like it as much... Edit: Here, this should help: I thought I was allowed to have an opinion. The new forum is ugly and headache inducing. Make it darker. A softer color such as the hex C3C3C3 would be nice as a replacement for the white. Edit 2: For now, I'll just turn down my monitor brightness whenever I come on the site. I'm serious. Edited April 3, 2012 by AGJM Quote The hardest part of ending is starting again. zookey
Personally, I like the new forum look. It is fresh and bright and is easy to read with the contrast of type to white. Glad to have the update in server to handle the traffic. Red ochre
I'd just like to point out a small 'bug'. It used to be possible to right click the code in a ... // code window box like this and it would select and allow you to copy just the code inside the window. It now selects the whole page including all posts and sigs. I hope this is fixable ? Quote Red ochre Plugin pack.............. Ego Eram Reputo
Thanks for pointing this out. There appear to be many small items that work differently or not at all in the new software. pdnnoob
It killed my avatar (can my avatar be in the same place as the "admin" label like BoltBait's? ) ...other than that, it looks great! I don't really understand the whole issue with "too bright" though. Doesn't Google use a white background too? Do you turn down your monitor brightness for at least 70% of web pages? o.0 EDIT: another thing I noticed was that smaller font sizes get mashed together and look horrid. Any chance of making those look nice again? EDIT2: last thing...hopefully. The glow in the paint.net logo at the top gets cut off on the left. Maybe a transparency gradient might help... Rick Brewster
EDIT2: last thing...hopefully. The glow in the paint.net logo at the top gets cut off on the left. Maybe a transparency gradient might help... I would probably reduce the glow effect so that it fit within the existing bitmap size, and kept the same horizontal (left edge) visual alignment. But yeah, it looks like a gomer right now. yellowman
I like it, but it is actually too bright, some have mentioned that already, I think the separation lines are too light, that's why some pages look too bright, But in the threads the wide title lines break the page and helps reduce the brightness. Is it possible to have the button of the "Reply to this topic" also at the bottom of the page? And the automatic spell chek is not working on FireFox, don't know why, could be the browser settings? The "Preview this topic" arrow within the threads is really great, have never seen that before, I wonder if it is limited by two topics only. But the mobile version is pretty awesome, I love it. EDIT, sorry, I am asking too many things, it is just fine though just like that. thanks Edited April 3, 2012 by yellowman Quote My GalleryMy YouTube Channel "PDN Tutorials"
Goonfella
I`ve noticed the problem with the FF spellcheck as well, so it`s not your browser settings to blame. Definitely a problem with the forum that needs sorting. I don`t find it too bright though. As you use FF you could always try the No Squint add on. You can change the colour and size of the text and alter the background colour to something you prefer. I don`t feel the need to use it here myself though but there are plenty websites with garish colours schemes that I do use it. Here is the link if you are interested - OH Dear! Another bug to sort out. I can`t copy and paste in the URL . You will have to go to the add ons page and do a search for it. Sorry. Simon Brown
I tried the mobile theme (on a laptop) and I can't work out how to disable it. Djisves
Nice. It looks better and we finally got rid of the annoying double-line jump whenever I hit the "enter" key. On the downside, I miss the "jump to forum section" drop-down list we used to have on the bottom right of every page. I can't find the avatar settings/option anywhere. Is it the "photo" in the profile page? EDIT: I tried to use a graphic hosted at minus.com but no luck. Minus allows hotlinking and I've had no problems with it at other fora.
