Rick Brewster
Heh no problem, it was actually a bug introduced when adding the Ctrl+[ shortcut for the brush width stuff. Turns out that Esc and Ctrl+[ send down the same keycode (27) and you have to do a second check to see if Ctrl is being pressed to distinguish between them (at least with the way all of the stuff in PDN is set up). Screenshot, shmeenshot ... As for the updates, the HTTP stack (or whatever it's called) is probably caching the old update manifest. Open this page in IE, http://www.getpaint.net/updates/version ... x86.en.txt , then hit Refresh, and Paint.NET will pick it up on the next attempt. I'm assuming you're in 32-bit Windows XP, English. BillC
To install the newest Beta release is it necessary to uninstall the version 2.7 I have installed?
Born2killx
No, there is a built in updater in Paint.NET so it notifies you of a new version and uninstalls itself automatically. Quote I built my first computer at age 11!

highlight_reel
One quick problem. I can't open anything in a new window. This is especially important for the types of signatures I do... great additions, but I wish you could open something in a new window. BillC
Hey Rick. If I upgrade to the latest Beta, will I have to reinstall my 'Effects'? I'm relative new to Paint.Net and was wondering about the stability of the new Beta. My belief is that it's darn good. Many thanks to you and the others who've freely shared of you time and knowledge. Bill
Rick Brewster
Hey Rick. If I upgrade to the latest Beta, will I have to reinstall my 'Effects'? You shouldn't have to. The updater is blind to these files, it won't remove them and the new version will just pick them up like usual.
