Free Web host Suggestions

Recommended Posts

http://fsphost.com/

That one is free and has no popups or ads, it's really the best one I've ever found.

You do have to kind of be experienced in a web programming language, the site doesn't help you at all in that field.

Or you can just have a program like Adobe GoLive, that works too (expensively).

If you need to know how to use it, just ask; it's not easy to explain, though. You'll probably figure it out anyways.

http://www.4uhost.info tons of space loads of bandwidth.

but i suggest you learn or understand css and html. these are the things you need for web design. (or use a web program like dreaweaver or nvu).

And you will need a free ftp porgram to quick upload although cpanels include a file manager it is not as fast as an ftp program, i use

ftp commander

it is simple and fast that's all you could need.

other notes...let's see

when you set up server you got to say http://www.4uhost.info,

you have to have signed up and been accepted,

you put in your user and pass,

when you get in you must double click on PUBLIC_HTML or public somethin, and thats where you upload all your files!!! public html is the same as www as well i think so.

So yea. css is important to know and figure out well get started

Can I have a MySQL database?

No, MySQL is not available.

Can I use CGI scripts?

110MB.com is the best:

  • 2000 MB
    100GB Monthly Bandwidth
    99% uptime
Free CGI, FTP, MYSQL, Perl, PHP, Python, and SSI
No advertisements (unless you want them)
    It's free

I don't know how the other web hosters got so big.

- Bravenet:

Experience: Meh.

Usability: If you don't want a piece of [censorbar] then learn HTML at least.

- Freewebs:

Esperience: Good service.

Usability: As above, learn HTML.

- byethost (Related to phpnet.us)

Experience: The hosting is good for free. It is primarily for PHP as far as I have seen though.

Usability: Some HTML or PHP experience is recommended, although you can get by with pre-configured scripts such as phpBB or phpFusion.

- Geocities:

Experience: lol wut? First time I ever tried geocities, the registration page crashed, and the editor wouldn't save changes.

Usability: FAIL.

- Googlepages:

It's good because it's Google. By previous Google experience that we all should have, the service is somewhat depersonalized, but reliable.

- Offtopic:

Not a webhost!

@FrEaK: I love Pivot.

110mb.com seems great. I must try it when I got time.

I use esnips.com at the moment. But I don't know, if you can get the direct link to files you upload because it has something like a folder structure.
