white
Hi new forum member here, I have been using Paint.net for a long time now and it has been great until my recent upgrades. I can edit any picture i like do what ever i like to it and save it, the only problem is its not saving the files as any recognised format by either Paint.net or any of my other programs, its been like this for a few months now and i have done several re installs but it just keeps failing. Has anyone got any idea as i have done some searches but nothing is coming up on the forums. Cheers
pyrochild
In the Save As dialog, are you setting the filetype by just changing the extension (.pdn, .png, .jpg etc.)? You have to use the dropdown box. Quote ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it!

pdnnoob
I don't know what's going on with your computer, but you could probably get around it by changing the extension of the file after you save it. It certainly never did this befor v3.5.
mountnman
just a thought but when you say you stripped PDN, did you delete the zip files fro the plugins and redownload them or did you just install them from previous downloads- problem with a corrupt plugin??? also what version of windows are you using(tho i cant think of why it would matter in theis instance) ? Ego Eram Reputo
1. Please be more specific about which file format(s) are not working. 2. Anything odd about the full filename (like more than one period in it, or doubled extension, etc...,)? jim100361
As a suggestion, how about a screenshot? You can produce an image in Windows paint program to show us, even if it's only .bmp
pdnnoob
If the file is not recognized after you change the filetype by right-clicking on the file and changing the filetype or renaming it to blank.png, then this is not an issue with paint.net. Cheers Actually it can be a problem with your Temporary Internet Files, Try Clearing your web cache, you may want to delete cookies or clean up the folder. I had a problem with Visual Studio a long time ago(I can't exactly remember the problem though). It was a problem with the file system that was causing the problem though. The Temporary Internet Files was the problem, I can't be more Serious. Also did you Use Add Remove Programs in your Control Panel to strip the previous version out. Also I had a problem with my computer when I found that during a windows update I think not sure but,I did find a Bing Toolbar or it was a toolbar that was namwd "Start Up" or something like that that appeared on my Internet Explorer 8, also it put my home page from Blank Page back to MSN. I had to get rid of that toolbar. Look in you Task Manager also for anything odd, Look for StartUp.exe or SetUp.exe to be a Process, anything odd like that check it out. Just a few things to add, definitly check out your Temporary Internet Files, it caused me a big problem with Visual Studio so it can be a problem. Just thought about it ans the toolbar was named "Start Now" Edited December 8, 2011 by Steve4000
