Ego Eram Reputo
.... i flat put didn't read the rules. We've done all we can to make you feel welcome, but if you refuse to read (and abide by) the Forum rules then you're going to run foul of the Mods and Admins repeatedly. You've been directed to read the rules a number of times. There is even a note in your signature. There is only so much we can do to help you fit in. Sorry to see you go. Know that you're welcome back anytime. david.atwell
Keep in mind, all the rules exist for a very specific reason. If you go through the rules and understand the reasoning behind each one, you'll end up remembering them better. The rules won't be an arbitrary list of commands, they'll become a list of reminders for how to make the forum run smoothly. And at that point, you'll break fewer rules, because - let's face it - if you know how something is supposed to run and why, it's a lot easier to work within the boundaries it sets up. Quote The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.Amy: But how did it end up in there? The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

W@@dy
I get what TFPrime is saying. The staff is just really restrictive and to the book on the rules which is really...irritating for me. But it's their job, and I get that. I'm used to more laid back admins who uphold the rules, but don't lock every topic that's already been covered or w/e. It's a bit of a nuisance for me to have to doubt myself everytime I'm gonna post something, run through multiple forum searches, reopen the rules, read through everything, re-read my post to make sure it complies, then post O-o I understand rules exist for a reason, and it's majorly to avoid duplicate posts and keep things streamlined...but to me it seems counterproductive >_> As long as you aren't getting 100 topics (hyperbole) on the same subject things seem in the clear to me. I hate to say it this way, but getting yelled at like "Did you even read the guidelines?" isn't very welcoming :l Not a rant or trying to change things...just how I feel :l Edited September 23, 2011 by W@@dy

david.atwell
Why do people think a locked thread is a bad thing? Why are people stuck on the concept that it's a personal slight against them when their thread is locked? A locked thread means one of three things: We locked our own rules thread. It's essentially meant as just a "signpost," no discussion needed. The topic is no longer applicable. There's literally nothing to be ashamed of; it accomplished its task, and it's done now. Be proud that it was successful! You broke a rule. Okay, seriously. It's not high treason; so you broke a rule. Stay positive, don't fly off the handle or go off the deep end. Learn from your mistake, apologize, skim the rules again (assuming you read them thoroughly the first time). Take a deep breath and go back to posting. It's not a personal slight against you that your thread was locked or you were chastised for not remembering the rules. Hey, I know; there's a long list. I've broken a few before, too. The key here to remember is, if everyone was breaking them, the forum would be utter chaos. And we can't count on people to be reasonable in this regard; there are simply too many users on this forum. We mods are on your side; get to know us, we're actually pretty likable people. (Well, except CMD. Nobody likes him. ) Okay, that's two sermon-ettes in one thread. I need to turn down the seriousness. Shamble-bobble-dibble-dooble. W@@dy
W@@dy: Can you provide an example? I'm interested in why. If you'd rather discuss this in private, please PM me instead. It's not that I'm ever right. What I mean is I'll search, but my searches will never turn up the one topic that already covers what I want to post on. So I'll post... then someone is like "Hey look at this topic you should have searched for" and I'm like -_- "but I triiiied...." And David I totally get what you're saying. And I didn't really think that locking posts isn't a slight against the poster (It's definitely the first feeling that you experience though) until you mentioned it. Sometimes though, it comes off as a bit brash with the explanation as to why it's locked:l Edited October 3, 2011 by W@@dy
