Right. That's because it's saving it as a PDN, even though the file extension you typed was .png. I don't have enough control over that dialog to make it, well ... smarter.

The file isn't messed up. It's just saved in a different format. Rename the .png to .pdn and it'll be fine (or substitute the appropriate file extensions).

If the file type dropdown says "PDN" and you type in a name like "blah.png", then it will save a PDN-format image into a file named "blah.png". If you type "blah" then it will append ".pdn" and save a PDN-format image into a file named "blah.pdn".

There are some obvious ways to fix the problem of typing "blah.png" when "PDN" is selected in the dropdown, but we just don't have enough control over the standard Windows-supplied common file operation dialog.
