Hi Rext, welcome to the forum.

As you've found, Paint.net is extremely powerful and capable of creating absolutely awesome graphics. Check out some of the user galleries here: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/forum/16-the-pictorium/ Among my favorites are WelshBlue, Helen, Sfifier and barbieq25, but there are many more awesome artists demonstrating their works here.

You can gain experience by regularly using paint.net and working through tutorials of other more experienced users. Here's one you might like to begin with: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/21651-a-way-to-design-a-gear/

Wow thank you EER! I will be sure to check those out! Also do you have any tutorials based on graphics tablets? Because I will be getting a Wacom Intuos4 soon.

Ditto, thanks EER. Agree that doing as any tutes as possible is a sure fire way of learning how to use Paint.NET & the plugins, not ot mention the inspiration, confidence & satisfaction this gives. Also posting the results to encourage constructive criticism & feedback, which helps to motivate good tute writers too.

My tips for what I do:

Always using a canvas 4 times the finished size I want to smooth out jaggies (works nearly every time).

Always keep as many layers intact as possible. Might mean merging layers down, copying it to the clipboard & then undoing again & turning off the merged layers so they don't show but are there.

Always saving a .PDN file & saving as a .PNG (lossless unlike .JPG)

Knowledge is no burden to carry.

Just be aware that paint.net doesn't (currently) support pressure sensitivity.

@Welshy & barbieq25: you guys are welcome. Thanks for displaying your works for all to see.

BTW if anyone would like to help me make a logo for my new website that would be great. (NOT TRYING TO ADVERTISE)Have you heard of minecraft? Well my website is my minecraft server and I need a logo that looks like minecraft's logo but for THE LAND of YA. Rick has already answered this in the Popular Feature Requests: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/2940-popular-feature-requests/
