MSI Installer path

Recommended Posts

Something is wrong with AD/GPO deploy for this installer:

unlike the description doc. for unattended Installation

http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/UnattendedInstallation.html

With: /createMsi "TARGETDIR=%PROGRAMFILES%\Paint.NET"

you get a working Windows Installer; but NOT installing under

"%PROGRAMFILES%"; it will allways install under "C:\Program Files"

Editing the msi you can see the installer path pointing to "C:\ "

Would be nice to have variable path working in the next version.

You're doin' it wrong.

%PROGRAMFILES% is being expanded by the command-line parser, before it even gets sent to the setup wizard. See also: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/archive/2006/08/23/714650.aspx

As for getting the MSI to have it embedded, I'm not sure what the correct syntax is. It might be to use brackets, e.g. [PROGRAMFILES], but I'm not sure. Use the search, Luke ...
