How can I keep just the picture without the white background?

Hey there, all. I just started using Paint.net, and while I love it, I am functionally useless with it as of now. I am making a pair of shoes on another website, and I need this image as a picture for the shoe, but no matter what I try, the image always saves as a white background, when all I want to save is the picture itself WITHOUT the white background. If anyone could help, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

certain types of images add a white background, others dont try saving as a .png format

JPG does not support transparency - it gets converted to white. You need to save in a format that supports transparency, like PNG

Also make sure when you are making your image, you delete the background before doing anything, otherwise you're still working on a white background.

I was also wondering the same thing but could one of you go a little bit more in depth of exactly how it is all done? Like, how do I delete the background and everything else I gotta do. I would really appreciate this because I have a project coming up in school and I need to know how it is done. Thanks in advance

Open Paint.NET.

Add a new layer:

Layers > Add New Layer

======================

In the Layers window, click on the layer named Background.

Delete it.

Layers > Delete Layer

=====================

Begin your project.

When done, save as PDN.

Then, save as PNG.
