Madtyke
I am new to paint.net but didn't have any problems using it or saving files as jpegs until tonight. For some reason after altering the photograph say 123.1 and then saving as 123.1.1 as a jpeg it appears in my picture folder as an unknown file and cannot be opened! Am I doing something wrong or is there a bug. I received an update tonight and have had this problem since then. I even re-installed but to no avail. Help? pyrochild
If your file name has a period in it, the characters following the last period are treated as the file extension. To be able to use your file again, right-click it, then click Rename, then add .jpg to the end of the name. To avoid this problem in the future, don't use periods in filenames. Rick Brewster
This also works a lot better in Win7/Vista. In XP there are limitations that cannot be worked around.
