Liliums
Could anybody tell me how do I make the transparent text box used for legends on this map, together white the white line and white square that points to the exact spot in Paint.NET? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12523669 Thank you! And that text just like in the bottom left corner (Microsoft)? I need some text effect?
pdnnoob
http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/51350000/jpg/_51350564_libya_tripoli_624map.jpg This one? ~transparent box~ (new layer) 1. set color to black with alpha set to 100 (click "more" in color window) 2. use rectangle tool to make box ~text~ (new layer) 3. set color to white 4. use text tool to add text in your transparent box ~white line~ (new layer) 5. use line tool with size set to 1 to draw white line. hold shift while placing lines to keep them vertical ~white box~ (new layer) 6. use rectangle tool to make box. hold shift to constrain to a square Use move tool to position objects as necessary 7. Merge layers and you're done! EDIT: forgot the Microsoft text ~Microsoft text~ (new layer) 1. set color to black 2. add text 3. use outline object plugin to create white outline around text Edited February 21, 2011 by pdnnoob Quote No, Paint.NET is not spyware...but, installing it is an IQ test. ~BoltBait Blend modes are like the filling in your sandwich. Liliums
Thank you sooo much! I did all that. However, the box wasn't filled with that dark grey colour. Should I use the bucket for that? And how do I draw that box so that the lower horizontal line becomes white? I draw a white line over the box's bottom border? Liliums
Can somebody help me? pdnnoob was very helpful, but somehow all I got is this: And if you could also add how to make the bottom border of the rectangle white, I'd be very grateful! Liliums
Oh, OK, I should have picked Draw Filled Shape. But how to do the rest?
pdnnoob
Make sure you follow the instructions exactly...especially when I say to add a new layer. The new layers allow you to adjust the opacity of the objects on the layers. To make the white border, just use the line tool set to 1 brush size. Zoom in if needed. EDIT: Also, this thread was really old, so according to the forum rules, your question should have been in a new topic with a link to this one Edited September 11, 2012 by pdnnoob Quote No, Paint.NET is not spyware...but, installing it is an IQ test. ~BoltBait Blend modes are like the filling in your sandwich.
