Unhandled Error

Recommended Posts

I love Paint.net. Have it installed on my desktop 32-bit XP and laptop 64-bit Vista. Worked great until a couple months ago when the version on the laptop failed to respond.

Therefore, did an uninstall, cleared my registry and reboot. However, regardless of what is tried, including sending the crash report and EVERYTHING stated in this forum, I continue to receive the same error:

"There was an unhandled error, and Paint.NET must be closed. Refer to the file pdncrash.log which has been placed on your desktop for more information."

Personally I believe its due to a M$ update which has changed something like NET framework which has been uninstalled and reinstalled.

I have exhausted my ideas at this time.

Any suggestions until I can afford an Apple to get away from M$ products and limited 64-bit applications and programs?

Thanx

Exception details: System.Security.SecurityException: Failure decoding embedded permission set object. at System.Collections.Generic.HashSet`1..ctor()

Smells like hard drive corruption. Or, at least, file corruption independent of any physical defect.

You will want to run chkdsk.

You will want to try doing a repair of .NET itself (aka "Microsoft .NET Framework" in the control panel).

These may work, or they may not, but in any event this is not a Paint.NET error.

Thank you. Gonna run some utilities on the drive.

FYI, have been playing with computers since about 80 or 81 and this is the first time EVER, I have received a reply, especially so quick on a software issue, and free software at that. Thank you again. Kudos!
