Recommended Posts

I used paint.net for a while, and one day I tried to open it, and it didn't work... I got an error, that I can't remember what it said, but it created a pdncrash note file on my desktop that said this:

This text file was created because Paint.NET crashed.

Please e-mail this file to crashlog@getpaint.net so we can diagnose and fix the problem.

After that I uninstalled Paintdotnet, redownloaded it, then reinstalled it, but got another error which said:

Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application.

If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.

Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.

And then I click continue and nothing happens, and i can click next again, and the error will come up again

Also, if I click "Details" on the error, the following appears:

************** JIT Debugging **************

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

application or computer (machine.config) must have the

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.

The application must also be compiled with debugging

enabled.

For example:

<configuration>

<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />

</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception

will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer

rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I don't know what to do, and would really like to be able to use this program again, so if anyone can help. please do so

also, I did e-mail the e-mail address in the pdncrash file two days ago, and got nothing back, so I figured I'd post here to see if anyone could help

Also try running PdnRepair.exe from the Paint.NET installation directory (usually C:\Program Files\Paint.NET), if it still persists after pyrochild's suggestion.

Is this a consistent error that happens everytime you open Paint.NET or is it happening with just one or two files? If it's the latter than the file may just be corrupt or an unsupported image type.

It /was/ consistent until I uninstalled Paint.NET.

Now I'm having problems reinstalling it, if you look at the second error

Looks like your .NET Framework installation may be corrupted. Try repairing it.

How do I repair it exactly?

I did run PdnRepair.exe, it said "Repair Failed" or something of the sort, and then closed

How do I repair it exactly?

From the Control Panel, choose Add/Remove Programs, then select Microsoft .NET Framework v3.5 SP1, click Change/Remove, then choose Repair and follow the prompts.

I don't have a copy of Windows XP handy to check these steps, so it may vary slightly.
