Rick Brewster
The article is completely wrong, etc. I have already spoken with the guy and I couldn't figure out half of what he was saying. There's really nothing to see there, and this thread is for Paint.NET buzz, not conspiracy theory. Please do not discuss it any further. MischiefKnight
I came across this wonderful program on CrystalXP.net and ever since I've practically been advertising it on different forums. I almost went for PhotoShop (costly) but I'm glad I kept searching. Keep up the great work! Quote Awesome Video Game Muisc! cjmcguinness
I just bought myself a new Notebook PC today and on the box it advertised that it came bundled with "Picture Editor" software. It turned out to be Paint.NET. It was a really old version (2.73, or something) as part of ISSENDIS Office One v7, along with Draw 3D. The Notebook is an iQon with WIndows Vista Premium, AMD Athlon Dual-Core processor, 120GB hard-drive and 2GB of RAM. These have just hit the shelves in major stores and supermarkets across the UK and Ireland at really reasonable prices, so PDN is being exposed to a mass market. It's just a shame that it's quite an old version and, when installed, doesn't automatically offer the user the option to download the latest version. Bob
IANAL, but seeing no notice about PdN on the website is bugging me. I really don't know if displaying only © ISSENDIS at the bottom is legal. BTW, cjmcguinness, is this the 'official' Paint.NET, or named Issendis Paint or something? What appear in the About box? Quote No. Way. I've just seen Bob. cjmcguinness
What appear in the About box? I installed it for curiosity sake and it's an unmodified version (albeit an old one) but it installs in an OFFICE One v7 sub folder. I've uninstalled it but, but as far as I can remember the about box had the standard copyrights and was not trying to brand itself as an Issendis badged product. pranavy
My search for "free photo editing software" on google gave me this result which introduced me to Paint.Net along with others like PhotoPlus and Pixia. http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/pixelb ... otoedw.htm Interestingly, when I do the same search on Google now, the first result itself is leading to the official PdN site... Myrddin
Another mention in WebUser (Issue 167). The article is about image editing in general and with the likes of Picasa, GIMP and PhotoFiltre is, of course, PDN. One of the main screenshots is of PDN 3.08 using the clone stamp to rid a picture of a ghastly crane-structure. Nothing much, and to be honest, out of the entire article PDN is only mentioned among the other afore-mentioned programs as 'the best free photo editors'. Next issue will include 'fantastic free software' so hopefully PDN will get a more focused spotlight that time around. I will copy up anything worth mentioning here as soon as.
