I've been getting a ton of referral traffic from this ... http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/itdojo/?p=1369 "Five cool Microsoft applications that are completely free" (suspend disbelief for a moment, as Paint.NET isn't actually a "Microsoft" app)

Unfortunately, I don't have my headphones plugged in at the moment so I can't hear the video :)

he tells about two students that developed it and then went on to work at microsoft. one of them would be you ! It is a very favourable and nicely worded recomendation for your program. I even like that he mentions the forum and the plugins.

excellent and I'm so glad its sending volumn your way.

An article on FreewareGenius about a program that will batch-install several programs of your choosing for you. Useful if you've had to format your computer, just got a new one, etc.

According to FreewareGenius, Ninite (the name of the program) "only supports a limited number of programs at present (66) but does offer some of the more popular and better known software...The software featured includes popular titles such as Firefox, Opera, , Pidgin, Thunderbird, iTunes, KMPlayer, Aimp, Paint.NET, GIMP, Irfanview, Open Office...".

lol

The guy explains that the projects started at washington state university and that Microsoft hired the two developers of PDN. :?:

That you continue to improve the application.

That PDN is cool and has lots of things.

Paint.NET vs GIMP ... http://www.techairlines.com/gimp-vs-pai ... < no swearing >-flyer/

Paint.NET wins, with 23.5 "points" versus 19.5 for GIMP. I think he added the points wrong -- should be 23.0 vs. 19.5 if you actually add them up yourself. Oh well :)

The important point is that Paint.NET wins no matter how badly you add them!

That's what I was thinking, too.

Also, according to Briamoth Weekly, Paint.NET is the best image editor since... ummm.. wait. There isn't one better!

Haha.

Popular Science Magazine Recently ran an article on their website about open source alternatives to Photoshop CS2 and Paint Shop Pro X. Although Gimp and Gimpshop kinda stole the spotlight in the article, a link was provided for Open Source Alternative ("A quick online guide to the best open source software.") where Paint.NET is duly listed as a viable alternative to the afore mentioned heavy hitters.

Well I don;t really understand where is the attraction in GIMP. It has a huge learning curve and the controls just suck. If anyone asks me about a good open source alternative to Photoshop I would instantly mention Paint.Net without batting an eyelid. :)

Funny how a site can be "Covered" with just two(2) ads...
