omurchu
Hi All: I am completely new to graphic design and Paint.net. I want to make a few graphic files with an image on one side and text on the other - like the one here: http://www.slidedeck.com/ Don't think this is too complicated, so can anyone point me to a tutorial that will run me through the process? I presume I will be working with layers? I have only cropped and re-sized so far so all help/hints/tips much appreciated. Thanks, Frank
Sarkut
Start by making the canvas size big enough for your finished project. Image > Canvas Size ======================= Bring your images in, one at a time, each on its own layer. Layers > Import From File... As you import each image, position it using the Move Selected Pixels tool. ======================= Edit: Before using the text tool, press Esc or Ctrl + D to remove the selection created by importing a layer. ======================= Put the text on its own new (transparent) layer. Layers > Add New Layer ======================= Save as a multi-layer PDN file, so that you can make changes later if you want to. omurchu
Sarkut Thanks for the reply. Here's what I tried: Set image size as you outlined. I put a gradient (from black to white (top to bottom)) on this. New layer, then imported my image (which fills left half of the layer.) So far so good. New layer. Clicked text button - now I don't see any text when typing ( though the cursor is moving.) I am sure this is an elementary mistake, but where am I going wrong?? pyrochild
Please use descriptive thread titles. "Need help" is of no use to anyone and just makes things cluttered and confusing. omurchu
Hey thanks - pressing escape worked. Will make sure to add descriptive titles next time - Frank
Ego Eram Reputo
To edit the thread title go to your original post and click on the EDIT button. Overtype the current thread title with something more descriptive. Hint: make sure that the new title has a direct reference to the problem you have/question you've asked. This is so that other users wanting the same solution can search (and find) this thread!
