Tiharo
I have been an lover of PDN for a long time. I love all the plugins and helpful people on the forums. I'm going to "teach" a class in school about PDN (I'm 14 so I'm not a teacher). At home I have a $700 laptop with Windows Vista (T.T). Here are the specs: ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 10/15/2010, 19:05:03 Machine name: THEGREATERPOWER Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6002) Service Pack 2 (6002.vistasp2_gdr.100608-0458) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Dell Inc. System Model: Inspiron 1545 BIOS: Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 A07 Processor: Pentium® Dual-Core CPU T4200 @ 2.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz Memory: 3034MB RAM Page File: 1349MB used, 4964MB available Windows Dir: C:\Windows DirectX Version: DirectX 11 DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 7.00.6002.18107 32bit Unicode ------------------ I have been wanting to get Windows 7 64 bit for a long time now but I don't have the money to do so. I wanted to get a new OS since Vista pretty much equals bloody potato. So, to get to the point, I wanted to get Ubuntu because it runs a lot faster. Now for the question: Can PDN run on Linux? I don't like Gimp at all. So forum, please help me by answering this question as best as you can. Thank you, Tiharo
csm725
No. PdN can't be run on Linux as it depends on the .NET framework which doesn't run on Linux. csm725
Don't quote me on this, but I don't think your laptop is powerful enough to smoothly run two Operating Systems. csm725
Obviously you mean one at a time; you want to dual-boot. Vista is a resource hog so I would upgrade to 7 and run 7/Ubuntu - much more viable option IMO. St1cki3
Actually csm you can run 2 OS's at the same time. It's called virtual machine (duh). You can use programs like VMware and run Windows Vista inside Windows XP or Linux Ubuntu inside Windows 7(and any variation). It operates as if it were a standalone machine. It's pretty cool actually You can do this without having to reboot at all. Just ctrl+click in any OS you wish to use to switch between them. Sarkut
You might want to check out Linux Mint 9, which is based on Ubuntu. It can be installed/uninstalled from Windows without having to deal with changing partitions, etc. http://www.linuxmint.com/rel_isadora_whatsnew.php
