Create line art from photo

The program seems amazing but it does have a steep learning curve for a newbie and I have to do this before I can learn it properly. Can someone give me instructions for creating line art from a jpeg photo. I need it to be clean with a lot of the inside detail gone, thanks for any help

Have you tried the built- in Effects>Artistic>Ink Sketch effect?

Thanks, I tried it but had to clean up too much. I am not a graphics person so I have been reading a bit, I see that what I am looking for is to vectorize it. Can paint.net do it?
