Star Glow Plugin

starglow12.jpg

What's this?

This is a plugin under Effect/Stylize menu. You should use it to add some shiny glow to your image.

Faster than the sparkles effect, it changes the value of the pixels instead of drawing lines or circles.

It just offers the possilibity to select the 8 radius to be on/off...

Download the DLL

Plugin StarGlow.dll

Hi @lifeday

I download and install the dll without problem.

Could you try the effect with this image:

edit: mini 254, maxi 255, radius 60

starglow11.jpg

or give the image you are using...

The effect needs to detect whitest pixels to draw a glow. Then it won't work on:

-white image

-monocolor image

Hello, MadJik,
thank you very much for the communication. I tried to draw out the glow on all black, of course it didn't work. Then I took my green fern image and the plugin reduced the size of the fern and conjured away the pixels at the edge.
Now I will try again, just as you wrote it and then I will bring all your instructions to this plugin into German to understand exactly how to use this plugin.
If I have a result, I will send it, good or not so good. Feedback must be :-))))))
greeting

Hi MadJik,

because I couldn't do it with my pictures, I copied your template and tested it.
Once only bright lights and once shiny lights black. That'll work.
So the question arises to me, does the shine only arise with very light colours? My pastel-colored image didn't work, the plugin removes the colors, I change the settings, nothing happens.
Fact is: The plugin works, the rest may be practice?

Sorry, paint.net refuses to upload 33.0 kb.
I'll try again later!

On your picture you could try this

mini 120

maxi 120

radius 30

If you want to place the glow yourself:

1. add a layer,

2.fill it with black and

3.F4 to set the blend mode to Lighten

4.Spot white dots where you want the glow to be placed

5.Run the effect Star glow

Tks MadJik for your answer. I tried it and it also works on this test painting, which is not beautiful but has served its purpose. I could not understand your second way, point 4: Spot white dots where you want the glow to be placed, gives me riddles.
However, as these lights are only seldom used by me, I can live with the result. It is important to me that the plugin works and that I can use it when I need it.
It meets both criteria. Thank you for the help and the plugin.

Thanks a lot MadJik, I was able to set the points, but somehow it was not possible for me. I'm going to follow your great play.
I am currently trying to delete my many photos so that I can get kB free again to send the really new pictures.
Have a nice day lifeday

@lifeday use a third-party image hosting service like Postimage or Imgur. You can post the links here and the images will not count against your forum allowance.

Hi Ego Eram Reputo,

Thank  you for your performance, I will look at these services.
Usually I don't have that many pictures to post, but since I haven't been using the Paint.net forum for so long and a lot of plugins are  interesting, the corresponding pictures were more. Now I delete the older pictures every 4 weeks (It's a pity, because as a newbie it helps if you see plastically what a plugin does), because 10 MB is not really much storage space, which must be owed to the size of the forum.
