Lossless JPEG functions

Recommended Posts

That's interesting. However, Paint.NET doesn't include any of those functions.

I have been wondering whether Paint.NET supports those lossless jpeg operations. Is it possible that Paint.NET already perform those operations losslessly by default?

I don't believe so.

Yes, very old.  Please start a new thread with this question in the Questions area, thanks :)

I realize this is an o-o-l-l-d  thread—but I wondered if anyone had revisited the idea of creating a Lossless JPG Crop/Rotation plugin to Paint.net?

Several freely available graphics editors include these features—so certainly as mature a project as P.n could...? 😉

Those aren't really editors, they're viewers. If you need a lossless JPEG rotate, I recommend you use one of those programs.

Getting this working in Paint.NET would require tracking information about the image in a way that just isn't compatible with how the app works. A plugin cannot accomplish this either.
