Need tutorial on leaving some color on Black & White background

Client wants her flag colored with the rest black and white.

Is there a tutorial on this?

i would duplicate the layer and make the top layer black-and-white, then i would use eraser (or maybe magic wand) to "remove" the black-and-white flag.

now you would have a coloured flag with a black-and-white background
