I use p.N to prepare graphics for webpages, usually using the transparency feature of the GIF format. It would save me a lot of time if the Magic Wand selected all of the same colour including, for example, the space contained in the eye of an 'e'. Then I could set all the background to transparent with one keystroke.

I'm slack and lazy, I know, but it would help me a lot.

It's already a feature.

Hold the Shift key down while using the Magic Wand.

Surely *.png would be a better file format for web graphics + transparency? If you're worried about size the OptiPNG Plugin can help with that.

Another way to select everything is by switching the Flood Mode from contiguous to global. No need to hold down shift then , it`ll all be selected in one click.
