From steps 3 to 4 your text changes to match chosen background but mine just stays black. Help?

Also, step 5 (5. Run either Feather or AA Assistant.):

is there some particular setting for "running" these?

In the Layers window, remove the checkmark from the layer with the black text.

Thanks for this tutorial. I didn't like my first result. But I used a different background this time, which made the letters pop out better. (I also used one of those layer blending modes) I know this one could also be improved, but I am happy enough with it. I learn a lot by following tutorials such as yours. And it's motivational to get a decent result in the end.

Apologies

I'm extremely guilty of neglecting tutorials.

Some really excellent takes on this one. That always makes it worthwhile taking the time to write them

@ Adel ... that looks pretty amazing as it is. Really nice and clean

For chrome have you tried these ?

Maybe you could post a picture off the internet as an example of how you'd like it to look ?

that way people may be able to make suggestions to help

Actually, have you tried the Metallise plug-in ?

I've just made this

It's only about 6 layers if you'd like a tut ?

Or there's this for 3 layers more

You're more than welcome adel.

Seeing that end result is worth the few minutes I spent trying to help and the few more I spent writing this tutorial. (Not that there's a lot of Trail 3D text ;) )

Looking at it again, I can't help thinking it would look even more effective if there was a bit of variation of the black you've got going on.

On the outside of the lettering where the chrome effect is.
