Transparent Gif Back Ground?

Ok can someone please tell me how to make a colour transparent when saving a gif?

It is really frustrating - I have used Corel Paint in the past and you just select a colour when saving and its then transparent.

Please help, step by step, because I have tried loads of different combinations and got nowhere

All I have is an outline drawing

I have then filled the outside part with a blue solid colour, and I want to turn the the green transparent

So when saved all I see is the diagram without a border.

Otherwise I'm off to find another package.

Magic Wand select the parts that you want to be transparent,

then press Delete on your keyboard.

With Paint.NET you actually make the parts transparent that

you want to be transparent.

Transparency is represented by the gray-and-white checkerboard.

if it's a pure blue (saturation of 255) you could download and use the Chroma Key plugin set to remove blue...it would remove all the blue and anti-alias it at the same time
