Lance McKnight
Workaround provided by Sarkut. Hidden Content: This might be the strangest post I have made to date regarding a plugin that's located on my plugin list. I ran a search querying "ray tracer," and got only this result.1) I want to know who wrote this plugin because I want to know how the heck to use it, and for the life of me, I can't remember which pack I downloaded it from. 2) It render an entire scene without anything being done. 3) It's cool, but useless if it only does what's described in #2. See the attach picture to see what I mean. A little voice in my head is reminding me that Mike Ryan hinted BoltBait added a couple of bonus plugin with his Feather 3.0 plugin which I added, but I'm thinking I'm going crazy. Rick Brewster
It's probably just a test plugin that was accidentally included in a released DLL. Sorry, but the only plugins in that pack were the three Selection plugins (Bevel, Outline, and Feather) and of course Object Feather v3.0. Ya' didn't get it from me. Lance McKnight
It's probably just a test plugin that was accidentally included in a released DLL. That certainly is plausible. I didn't consider that. Crazy? I'm certified insane! Seriously though, I didn't think it was your plugin anyway, and I just wanted to be sure I didn't mix your plugins with this plugin. Rick Brewster
You're not crazy unless you're like this, (jump to the 4 minute 7 seconds mark, watch until about 1 minute later) (and yes that's a tinfoil hat he's wearing) Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
pyrochild
(jump to the 4 minute 7 seconds mark, watch until about 1 minute later) You can add #t=4m07s to YouTube URLs to make them jump straight there. That hat doesn't seem to be working. Or it's working too well. Quote ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it! Lance McKnight
3) It's cool, but useless This, currently. viewtopic.php?f=16&t=5128 Based on the commentary in the plugin thread, this plugin used to do something other than what it does now. Maybe it has become broken, by not being updated to conform to new versions of Paint.NET. Or... ? I skimmed through 3 pages of that plugin you linked to, and the only thing I can conclude is this: I have never downloaded from that source. I can't remember where I got it, so I may have to go through all the .dlls and delete the right one. Thanks for trying, though, and I appreciate the trouble you went to resolve the question. Sarkut
I just noticed. The single plugin file - OrbGenerator.dll creates two sub-menu sets. ====================================== Edit: OrbGenerator.dll is innocent of any involvement in the "Great Ray Tracer Caper" ====================================== Ray Tracer and Shapes > Orb Generator The orb generator is functional, but of limited usefulness. Goonfella
I also have this one. I was wondering where it came from as well. I assumed it was from an updated plug in pack but couldn`t figure out which one either. Thanks for solving the mystery Sarkut. The plot thickens - I can`t see an OrbGenerator dll file in PDN Effects file ! Also I always keep a copy of every plug in I download in a special folder in case I need to reinstall something. I can`t find the dll file in there either. The only thing I can think of is that it must come with one of the packs that use a single dll for everything. In my opinion this only reinforces the argument for having separate dll`s for each plug in and not a single one for the whole lot. I know I`m not a plug in maker but surely there should be rules about these things. It does PDN no good at all when people find things they never thought they had or are forced to install plug ins they don`t want. Sarkut
can`t see an OrbGenerator dll file in PDN Effects file That's bizarre! Just as a check, temporarily reset your OS Folder View settings to: Show hidden files and folders and Remove the checkmark at: Hide protected system files (Recommended) See whether doing this makes the OrbGenerator.dll become visible. Sarkut
Okay. OrbGenerator.dll is a red-herring relative to the Ray Tracer menu item. It seems to come and go with the latest Curtis Black plugin pack. =============================================== If I use CurtisBlack.Common.dll and CurtisBlackResources.dll from the newest plugin download, with CurtisBlack.Effects.dll from the previous version, Ray Tracer doesn't show and no Plugin Load errors show up in Utilities
Goonfella
Thanks, I`ll try this.I thought it was a single dll plug in pack to blame. edit - worked! Thanks for the tip Sarkut. Quote Please feel free to visit my Gallery on PDNFans And my Alternatives to PDN

I also added a link in Curtis Black's plugin thread to support Sarkut's observation. It is now official, Sarkut, you are hereby a PDN Sleuth. Good work, my man. It's probably just a test plugin that was accidentally included in a released DLL. Rick, great judgmental call you made. Quote Officially retired from this forum. Have a nice day.
