Janet712
I can't wait to try out this software! However, when I extracted the Installation file from the zipped folder and ran it ---- nothing happened. No shortcuts on my desktop, no -- anything. When I try to open a jpeg by Opening With some chosen software, I only have "regular" Paint in the list. So -- No Paint.NET. What have I done wrong? I downloaded Paint.NET (v3.5.4) from : http://www.dotpdn.com/downloads/pdn.html And my PC is running under Windows XP with SP2. Can someone help me? Thank you! Sarkut
Janet712, Try this - Put the zip that you downloaded, and the installation file that you extracted into the Trash Can. (Don't empty it yet.) Clear your browsers cache. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sour ... 0&aql=&oq= Download from the link that you used before. Download to the default location - Desktop or Downloads folder typically. Don't extract the zip. Open it by left-clicking, then copy/paste the installation file to Desktop. Quietly invoke the Deity, (Optional), then run the install file. Report back with results. Good luck !
pyrochild
Also, Run As doesn't work in with Paint.NET's installer on Windows XP, so if you're doing that, well, don't. vdelau
Is there a way to use Run As (like) functionality while installing? Our users don't have administrator rights and I prefer to use run as instead of having to close all apps, log off, log in, install, log off, log in. pyrochild
instead of having to close all apps, log off, log in, install, log off, log in. Can you enable fast user switching? Rick Brewster
Can you enable fast user switching? Won't work if they're on a domain. (Yet another reason to upgrade past XP, btw -- Vista/Win7 can do both FUS and domain join.) Sarkut
Arti-san, Pls. say what OS version you are using. (XP, Vista, etc.) Also, what OS Service Pack level is installed, and whether fully current on Windows Updates. Have you seen these threads? Links Removed. Arti-san
Well those threads are not helping Sarkut - I'm looking for a reference to the 1603 error, the only other post regarding this (other than mine), tells the user they posted in the wrong place - I searched using 1603 only. I'm Running Vista, some updates are an issue, so the comp goes in tomorrow for an overhaul - I don't think the updates are the issue, it downloaded gimp 2.6 okay last week. I'm told paint.net is superior. Quote I'm not striving to be better than you, I'm strivjing to be better than me
Sarkut
Arti-san, Here are ten pages of results for Error 1603. Unfortunately 1603 is a rather generalized error code, can be the result of many different problems. Link Removed. Arti-san
Okay Sarkut, have to get used to the forum and searches. So I'm stuck by the looks of it. I'll try after the comp has learned to obey, in the mean time i'll play with gimp Quote I'm not striving to be better than you, I'm strivjing to be better than me
