carbonize
The title of this forum refers to the nature of this thread (possibly I should of started this in the Overflow). Anyway I am a scripter by hobby. I write a guestbook in PHP. I also build the occasional website. Anyway my problem is that whilst I'm good with code I am absolutely terrible with design and graphics. I use PdN because it makes a lot of graphics stuff so damn easy (see my new banner on the Lazarus forums). Right lets get back on track. I'm good at code (yeah said that), useless at design (yeah said that as well) and I need a new logo/mascot for my guestbook. And so to the barefaced cheek part. Is there anybody willing to design my logo/mascot for me? I'm going to be even moer cheeky because I have a specific item in mind. As it's for a guestbook I want a bookworm (without a book) but it has to be a borg bookworm (I'm sure you all know who/what the borg are). I want it to be a borg because during a conversation with a friend we came up with the slogan, 'Spamming is futile!' So anybody want to help a poor, bedraggled scripter? Look at my website if you don't believe I suck at design Sorry for the disjointed nature of this post but I wrote it as I thought of it. Feel free to tell me to take a flying leap. Crazy Man Dan
I'd be up for it. One question: Do you want it to be done in PDN? I usually use a Vector program for logo / character design... barkbark00
I agree, its hard to get smooth lines for a character drawing in a raster program. CMD: what vector program do you use? carbonize
So long as it gets done I don't care if you do it in MSPaint (although I'd be damned impressed ) Quote C A R B O N I Z E

Crazy Man Dan
I use Inkscape. It's freeware as well. Illnab1024
If this turns into SVG, I would suggest moving this to overflow, CMD. Quote ~~
Crazy Man Dan
It may belong there. (I dunno, last time I moved topics, I moved them both to the wrong boards... ) If it goes beyond PDN, it should go into e-mail conversations instead of posts on the PDN message board. Quote I am not a mechanism, I am part of the resistance; I am an organism, an animal, a creature, I am a beast. ~ Becoming the Archetype
carbonize
When alls said and done you're welcome to move this to either of my two forums. Rather avoid email because in a forum you can see other peoples ideas and maybe get inspired. Only trouble with using my forums is that my wonderful employer has actually blocked my domain from the works proxy Quote C A R B O N I Z E
Crazy Man Dan
I feel it's only fair to let you know: I love the banner you have on your site (http://www.carbonize.co.uk/)! But yeah, I'm all for feeding off of other people's ideas, but I'd be hesitant to talk freely about an Inkscape project on a Paint.NET forum. carbonize
Move it to Overflow if you can remember how ;-) I did intend to use PnD on my machine here in work but they haven't updated the .NET framework to version 2 and I can't really ask them to do so just so I can use PnD. This machines locked down so tight I don't even have calculator on here. Strangest thing about my company's IT people is that we are allowed to access Ebay but not Paypal. Illnab1024
Carbonize, we would all prefer you call it it's actual shortened name, PdN...Just letting you know. eBay and not paypal? Wow...Prolly filtering screwups. Quote ~~
carbonize
Lol I means PdN. Don't know where I'm getting PnD from. Maybe because it looks like PhD or maybe from an old computer game, KnD. And no it's not filtering screw ups. They once had Ebay blocked but then ublocked it. It's only recently they added Paypal to their list of banned domains. I can cirumvent it if I wanted using a proxy but I wouldn't trust a proxy when it comes to logging into something like Paypal.
