Effect on a link

Recommended Posts

Hello guys,

I'm from Holland so maybe I can make some grammer mistakes in my text, so sorry about that, but I want to know something about making links on a webpage.

I'd like to know how to make nice links on the top of my webpage, and sometimes I see on other websites that people make links, and when you put your mouse on those links, the link changes. There comes a nice effect on it, like a shadow en some sort of light.

For example, look at http://www.onlive.com. When you put your mouse on the links it changes a little bit. There comes a brighting effect or something like that on the link. Can someone tell me how to make such a nice picture with such a shadow or brightning effect like on that site. I know how to program it with java script, I only don't know how to make the picture it self.

Kind regards,

Erols,

Paint.Net is an image and photo editor. As such it will assist you to make things like the actual button images. For the mouseover effect itself you will need to know something about HTML, CSS and possibly Javascript.

Try Googling the term "mouseover".

Thanks for your reply, but I think you didn't understand what I mean. I know a litle bit how to program it with Java, CSS and HTML (actually not HTML for the effect, but just for the lay-out), but I only don't know how to make such an effect. By a mouseover the webdesigner makes two images of the same link. The one is just black, and the other one is black to, but it also has a light effect on it. After making the images you have to program it, put it on the right place on your page and that's it! But my problem is only how to make that effect on the link with Paint.NET. When I make a black link, and I want a mouseover I first have to make the "moused over" link, with the effect on it. After doing this you need to program it. And I just want to know how to make the second image of the link with this photo editing program.

Kind regards,
