stma
I do a lot of image cropping with Paint.NET. It would be great if the Canvas Size window (Crtl+Shift+R) had an Apply button and an Undo button. Then you could crop each side of an image using different anchor points without having to click OK after each modification and then re-open the window for the next. Likewise, the Undo button would help if you find that you have cropped the image too much after pressing Apply. I'd imagine this would be a fairly simple addition to the app. Thanks for considering this suggestion.
Rick Brewster
I recommend using the Rectangle Select tool along with Crop to Selection (Ctrl+Shift+X). I very often use this to do one-edge-at-a-time cropping, precisely as you seem to be wanting. stma
I can see the usefulness of this feature. However, one thing I didn't mention was that I apply the exact same cropping to multiple images. Specifically I use MATLAB to generate a bunch of graphs (figure windows) and then take a screen grab and then crop them to remove the toolbars, borders, etc. I need the resulting images to be exactly the same size for use in my thesis and presentations. It would be quite difficult to achieve this using the Rectangle Select Tool and Crtl+Shift+X.
Rick Brewster
Then you might also like the Fixed Size selection feature in the toolbar when the Rectangle Select tool is active. (This screenshot shows Fixed Ratio but you get the idea) Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
stma
Again, a useful feature. However this still will not allow me to crop the graphs exactly the same on all sides, since it relies on me placing the rectangle (with the mouse) in exactly the same place on all my images. From my (limited) experience with MFC, I would imagine that adding two buttons to effect Apply and Undo would be a simple exercise. (Obviously in this statement I'm assuming that MFC is what you use to created the GUI for the app.) It's just a suggestion that would certainly make my experience more user friendly, and I'd guess others would find the ability to crop using "trial-and-error" (ie. repeatedly using Apply/Undo) useful too. Thanks for your consideration.

If each image's crop is exactly the same, why don't you look into automating the process with something like ImageMagick? From my (limited) experience with MFC, I would imagine that adding two buttons to effect Apply and Undo would be a simple exercise. Rick Brewster
I would imagine that adding two buttons to effect Apply and Undo would be a simple exercise. I don't know why everyone assumes I'm not adding their pet features because they're "difficult" or something. I've never stated or implied anything like that.
