New to this, simple question concerning cutting & pasting

I uploaded a picture onto paint.net and want to copy a section to include in a word document.

I have clicked the rectangle and surrounded the image I want, then used the magic wand, but cannot seem to get any further. I just want this section to copy and paste onto a flyer I am making.

I have tried a couple of tutorials, but just seem to get loads of layers.

Any help greatfully received.

You get the "Rectangle Select" tool, select what you want, then on your keyboard press Ctrl+c. then go to your flyer, and press Ctrl+V. If it doesn't work for you, it works for me.

Hi, I have tried that, and it is copying the whole page including where I have put the rectangle. Obviously I am missing a stage which isolates the image in the rectangle. Any ideas?

After making the rectangular selection , don't use the Magic Wand.

Okay, Lets see if I have this right,

I put the rectangle around the image, turn it blue (how do I do this), contol C, and control V?

In Paint.NET, select the area of the image you're interested in.

Press Ctrl-C

Open your word processing document and put the cursor where you want the image to show up.

Press Ctrl-V
