Layers?

If you want to keep your layers, save it as PDN.

Then you can flatten it and save as another file format, like .png for example. That way you will still have your original .pdn file you can go back to and make changes or "borrow" parts for another piece. Good luck !

You have to hit Undo right after you save. Once you close Paint.NET, it's too late unless you save in .PDN format.
