This is how to make a simple sig that looks good and has a glossy effect to it.

You will need these effects

object outline

align object

The final product will look something like this

finalproduct-1.png

First start out with a blank canvas that is 1000x200, or 500x100 if you don't want to resize it later

step1-1.png

then fill it in with any color you want

step2-1.png

then add a new layer :AddNewLayer: and draw a filled :ShapeInterior: eclipse :EllipseTool: that is white over the top half of the new layer

step3-1.png

Then go to linear gradient :LinearGradient: (set it as transparent) and drag from the top down

step4-1.png

Then add a new layer between your to current layers and type text into it any color you want

step5-1.png

now go into object outline and add an outline any color with these settings

width-3

softness-123

step6-1.png

then go back to object outline and select black and use these settings

width-20

softness-255

step7-1.png

then use align object on your text layer and test it to center

step8-1.png

Finally flatten it and if you used a 1000x200 canvas then resize it to 500x100 so it can be used in a forum

step9-1.png

Now you should have this

true, it has been done several times, but since the legacy tutorials aren't accessible anymore, this one is safe.

however, one of your steps needs to be edited, or else people will come in here hollering about it...

where you say: "Then go to linear gradient and drag from the top down" I see you're in transparent gradient mode, however it doesn't say anything about it. A linear gradient (not in transparent mode) will completely cover up what's below it.
