jerry533482
If you're reading this, you probably run Paint.NET on your machine. True, But How fast is your machine? I've recently stumbled upon some posts that talk all about users running 2 Ghz core 2 duos, 3.2 Ghz quads, etc., and they seem to have become increasingly common. True, Moore's law is still holding up after all these years, but there are always those who do not, or will not upgrade to the latest hardware. And, with software demanding more and more precious resources these days, that means that a mid-age pc will receive terrible slowdowns, crashes, and a painfully long rendering time. Yet, some of these apps still run on your "grandfather" machine. This is a posting for those who have not upgraded to the latest hardware. I'm giving you a chance to share with the forum how fast(I mean slow) your machine is, and how long Paint.NET makes you wait for rendering time(on that machine). Feel free to talk about anything else you run with your old machine. So, what is your opinion on your machine's power? Please note: this topic is for those with a SINGLE core, and preferably a cpu slower than 1.8 Ghz. 007 Nab
Haha, I'm running on a single core - though I'm higher than 1.8 (can't remember the actual speed, not on my main machine currently) Anyway, I just finished rendering a scene in Vue... and guess how long it took? Over 150 hours! There were less than 800,000 polygons! I need to upgrade:P Oh, and regarding this thread in general, I think it could slip as a convo in the Offtopic, as opposed to a proper thread of its own Quote "pyrochild, you're my favorite person ever. jerry533482
I'm only on a single 1.6 Ghz AMD athlon. although I'll be upgrading soon. That's why it's always a pain to create pictures in paint.net that are above 1600x1200. Down
My current one is a few years old. (Which is a lot newer then the one I'm posting from....<_<) It runs most everything fine, but can't keep 250 fps in cod haha. I've fully priced out a sweet new system I should be able to purchase in a few... Rick Brewster
I hoping to build/buy a Dual Xeon "Gulftown" system once they're available. Andrew D
I used to have a 3Ghz Pentium 4 processor up until about a week ago, and to be honest, it actually rendered stuff relatively quickly until it got to having 10 layer images. jerry533482
All right, I'll bet no one here runs Paint.NET on a machine slower than 1.6Ghz. Rick Brewster
You'd be surprised at some of the crash logs I get, which has the system info in it. Celerons below 1ghz ... Core 2 Duos with 256MB RAM ... even some system with 96 or 128 MB RAM. It's no wonder it crashes on them. Zwicky
The computer I primarily use has a single core 1.54 GHz AMD Athlon XP 1800+. It is incredibly slow. The fact it only has 512MB of RAM doesn't help either. So my opinion on my PC's power? Terrible.

Neil Cassidy
I usually use a tiny laptop (4 pounds or so) with a 2.4 GHz dual-core processor (T8300), a 7200 rpm hard drive, and 4GB of DDR2 running in dual-channel mode. It runs Paint.NET and various development tools quite well, and the pointing stick "mouse" is surprisingly good for drawing and making selections. I wore off all the surface features and eventually had to cut a pattern into the top of it. I'm sure I could order some replacement heads, but there's something fascinating about needing to occasionally sharpen a computer.
