Adding/merging two images

Hi, I have a web background image, predominantly dark grey colour expect that at the top there is a light grey 100px high horizontal stripe about 400px from the top.

I need to increase the height of the dark grey section above the light grey stripe by 50px to accommodate a larger logo.

I've tried creating a new layer, same width and 50px high in dark grey and then merging to the background layer but this only results in an image the same size.

I've created a dark grey image, same width and 50px high, and then tried to copy and paste onto the background image but again without success.

I would appreciate some tips for what appears to be a simple task!

Thanks

Elektra

Can you clarify this?

Do you want to reduce the height of the light grey to make more room above it?

Do you want to keep the light grey the same size, but move it down?

Something else?

If you can post the image, it will be helpful.

Hi, here's the image.

I want to increase the height of the dark grey top portion by 50px to align my header logo.

Everything else remains unchanged.

Thanks

Okay. Open the image in PdN and increase your canvas size (height) by 50 px,

with the image anchored to the bottom, then fill in the top with the dark grey.

In the top menu, Image > Canvas Size...
