Holley2583
I have transparent icons and i want to add color to the images. How do i do that without having to use the magic wand which makes the edges blunt instead of gradient. I want the color to take to the images as they are. Is there a way to do that, cuz i have been in this situations several times and cant seem to figure it out. Thanks so much! The Arrow image is the icon, and the other is another image that's similar in what I'd like to learn to do, color it, but keep it's gradient outline. I also have an example of what i'd like to do, someone else did the red.
Curmudgeon
could use a whole host of plugins, such as: color tintcolor filtercolor flip/rotategrayscale on colored paperduotone ink on papermonochrome ink on paperetc...
Sarkut
Here's one way. Make a new layer and fill it with black. Merge your icon down onto the black layer. Fill a new layer with the color you want the icon to be. Use the black and white layer as an Alpha Mask and apply it to the color layer. You will need the Alpha Mask plugin. The mask can be re-used to make different colored copies of the same icon, if you wish.

I have Vandermotten effects plugin, duotone on gets you so far because the color is pale. Which other plugin would work the best in your opinion.? So what happens after the icon is the color I want, do I have to cut the image out after? If so this will not work. Thank You !!!
Sarkut
Your original white image is in the folder where it started from, a copy of it has been merged with the black layer. Give it a try. No cutting out is needed.

Simon Brown
i downloaded Megalopack I'd advise against that, as there's no guarantee unofficial plugin packs are up-to-date.
